Back to school supplies
As children go back to school each year we are busy raising funds for school supplies for low-income families. Our school supplies are donated directly to Rotary's Pencil Me In For Kids. This organization distribute the supplies accordingly and directly to schools. We do not give school supplies out directly to individuals or families. Thank you to all who have donated to our back to school drive this year!

Rent and Utilities
Need assistance with rent or utilities? At the beginning and middle of every month we assist as many West Seattle families as we can who meet our mission of having a one-time emergency with rent or utilities. Please complete our financial assistance application to apply for assistance or you may call 932-HELP and leave a message for our volunteers. Our volunteers will call you back to you and go through our 5 minute financial assistance application.

With our limited assistance, we help about 1 in 3 families with rent or utilities anywhere from $50 to $300. You must be a West Seattle resident to be able to apply and we only give assistance with one bill every 12 months. Our volunteers can also link you to other community resources that may be helpful to you. Click on our resources page to find some of those resources. All clients must verify ID, income, and bill information before receiving assistance. We give out rent and utility assistance only at the beginning and middle of every month.

Clothing at the Clothesline
You may shop at our Clothesline every 2 months and receive 3 free outfits per family member, a pair of shoes, and one winter coat per year. You do not need to live in West Seattle, but you do need to bring ID for those you are shopping for. Please call 932-HELP to set up your 30 minute appointment to shop. Only those with appointments will be allowed to shop. The Clothesline is open Tuesday, Thursday, and every other Saturday. If you would like to donate lightly worn clothes to our Clothesline, please bring them to our office on 35th & Morgan during office hours. Please make sure to knock on the window to the right for someone to assist you with your donations.
Metro bus tickets
The West Seattle Helpline has changed the system of assisting residents with Metro bus tickets. We will no longer be giving out 6 tickets per individual one time per month. A Bus Ticket Grant Application has to be filled out in order to receive 40 bus tickets. This is a competitive application and those who best fit our mission will be selected. Selected participants will be asked to verify their information with identification and documents showing sources of income.
